I’m Therese Kopiwoda, and I’ve been building websites for pet businesses since 2001.

Before I ever built a website for a client, I was the one running a pet sitting and dog walking business. Ten years of it. I know what it’s like to have a day with meet & greets, dog walks, and pet sitting visits. I also know how it feels to have to call a pet owner to tell them their cat is sick and needs an emergency vet visit…and then going to that vet’s office at 9pm. That’s not theory to me. I lived it.

I’ve spent years speaking at pet industry conferences, NAPPS, Pet Sitters International, the Texas Pet Sitters Conference, even SXSW. I’ve also written several articles for NAPPS and PSI and have presented webinars to members.

Do you redesign existing pet business websites, or only build new ones?

Both. Some clients come to me with nothing and need a website built from scratch, like The Pet Daddies did when they were just starting their live-in pet sitting business. Others already have a website but they want to update it so it aligns better with how their business has grown. This was the case with Peace Love Paws after Bobbi Wilson was named Pet Sitters International’s Pet Sitter of the Year.

Can you connect my booking or pet care software?

In most cases, yes. I can add links or forms that connect to platforms like Time To Pet, Precise Petcare, and Gingr. We can talk about advanced integrations during the proposal process, since every pet care software setup is a little different.

How is a pet business website different from any other small business site?

A pet business website has to build trust faster than most. Pet owners are deciding whether to hand over a house key or leave a beloved family member and sometimes, their home, in someone’s care. This means your website needs to answer questions about insurance, bonding, experience, and reliability before a client ever picks up the phone. I know what those questions are because I ran a pet sitting business myself for ten years.

Will my website show off my insurance, bonding, and certifications?

Absolutely, this is extremely important. Those are some of your strongest trust signals. I make sure they’re stated clearly on the page, not buried in tiny footer text or left off entirely.

I have to compete with apps like Rover and Wag. Can a website actually help with that?

It can, but it plays a different role. Rover and Wag win on convenience and price. Your website’s job is different: it shows pet owners why working with you directly, instead of through an app, gets them better care and a real relationship with the person looking after their pet. That’s exactly the kind of content I can help you build.

Do you have experience with trainers, groomers, and daycares, or mostly pet sitters?

My own background is pet sitting and dog walking, but I’ve worked with pet professionals of all kinds for more than 20 years now, trainers, groomers, daycare facilities, you name it. Every pet business is unique and has its own client concerns, and I take the time to learn yours before we design anything.

Will this help my business show up when someone asks ChatGPT for a pet sitter recommendation?

I build every pet business website with SEO and Answer Engine Optimization in mind, clear service descriptions, location info, trust signals AI tools can actually read and use. That gives you a stronger foundation to be considered. I won’t tell you I can guarantee an AI recommendation, because nobody honestly can. What I can do is make sure your site hands AI tools clear, accurate information to work with.

Do you only design websites for pet businesses?
